Self- Introduction

If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it? 
The life of Erika G
 Tell us one of your favorite joke.
Do not have any, I usually laugh at everything! 
 Tell us what subject you teach, years of teaching, and how far you are in the Teacher Education program (if different program, please specify).
I’m currently not teaching, I work in a broker/insurance office as an executive assistant. I have to do this for school purposed and for my son day care hours. However I’ve been working with children since I was 15 years old. This is my last year in the program, In the spring semester I will start student teaching and hopefully graduate in May. 
How much do you know about teaching language arts?
Being far into the program I know a good amount of language arts and how to apply in the classroom and my lesson plans. 
 How much do know about "new literacies?" 
I know a lot about new literacies, ever since the beginning of this program new literacy is a topic that is introduced in many classes.
What are your concerns about taking this course?
This course is not what concerns me is the workload of taking 5 classes semester, I’m actually very nervous

Week 3- Assignment 2

•   Which ideas from the video reflect what the ELA teachers you interviewed are currently doing to integrate technology with their literacy instruction? Based on the video the ELA teacher is using a productivity tool in her classroom. She is using the smart bored, ipad, and software apps, to engage her students. •   How can you help change their instructional practices to include the use of technology and the Internet in their literacy and content-area curriculum? I can help by introducing ICT tools ( components of new literacies) and having students use cognitive skills / tools in the classroom. •   What professional development and/or resources will they need in order to make these changes? Week 6 -2-1

After reading both articles, they both come to the same important point of technology in the classroom. One article focused on understanding of ICT’s by teachers and the other was social media in the classroom. In order for both to occur in the classroom we have to make the students feel comfortable when using technology so that way the transition is smooth and students can adapt to become familiar. In most cases if teachers are not familiar with technology they tend to shy away from it and teach using textbooks or lecture. In the country we live in this isn’t fair or possible anymore because we are in an advance world of technology.
