grammar, being able to relate to the author and character. Most importantly are students able to spell
these words correctly. They will apply knowledge from the book they have read
and different learning techniques on how to write and focus on the important
part of a descriptive story.

to monitor student’s work and ask questions.
Instructional Procedure:
· Students and teachers as
a class will recap Stone Fox and retell the ending. Teacher will write key
facts on the smart board for students to refer to.
· Students will then play
the game Spellerz! For word practice. By this time students should be familiar
with the game. Teacher will then review these words as a class and add on any
other words they have found.
· Teacher will then go over
the “watermelon” method with the class using an example. The watermelon method
is when students have a big thought with a lot of “seed” pieces and do not know
how to shrink it down to one part or how to organize there thoughts. The
watermelon sheets helps them do this and keeps them organize.
· Students will go back to
their seats and start to write down ideas so they can write their story. “ What
would you do if you were Stone Fox?”
· Before students begin
writing they are given a rubric and guideline sheet of what to include and what
should be done for this writing assignment.
· Students will work on
this for 3 days and have 2 days to edit, In total a week to complete the
writing assignment. After it has been reviewed and edited by their writing
partner and teacher, student will be able to type it and draw a picture with a
new cover page.
