Week 5 Assignment 2

I believe as a future teacher using educational games in the classroom can benefit the students and teacher. As a student they are able to advance in technology, learn how to stay in touch with current software and up to date. Students also benefit from learning in a visual way and can spend hours playing educational games. However as a teacher I would not recommend playing games on a daily basis, the instructional way of teaching is still very important so as an incentive students can earn to play these games.

         As a learner I think games in the classroom are great, students would rather be on a computer or tablet then listening to a teacher talk. In my experience even reading games are fun for students and they do not mind playing them for a long time.

Week 3- Assignment 2

•   Which ideas from the video reflect what the ELA teachers you interviewed are currently doing to integrate technology with their literacy instruction? Based on the video the ELA teacher is using a productivity tool in her classroom. She is using the smart bored, ipad, and software apps, to engage her students. •   How can you help change their instructional practices to include the use of technology and the Internet in their literacy and content-area curriculum? I can help by introducing ICT tools ( components of new literacies) and having students use cognitive skills / tools in the classroom. •   What professional development and/or resources will they need in order to make these changes? Week 6 -2-1

After reading both articles, they both come to the same important point of technology in the classroom. One article focused on understanding of ICT’s by teachers and the other was social media in the classroom. In order for both to occur in the classroom we have to make the students feel comfortable when using technology so that way the transition is smooth and students can adapt to become familiar. In most cases if teachers are not familiar with technology they tend to shy away from it and teach using textbooks or lecture. In the country we live in this isn’t fair or possible anymore because we are in an advance world of technology.
