Edmodo has various features for teachers, students and parents to work together and collaborate with one another. In addition it can be used in the classroom for quizzes, assignments, planning and notes.  Teachers can able to give homework and assignments, set a due date, write notes and reminder and grade with instant feedback.  When quizzes are given on Edmodo they are able to be multiple choice, true or false, fill in , matching. Giving these quizzes helps students who need extra time, they are able to see the time limit and provides different options for every different learning need. Edmodo also has a library where teachers can add articles, reading and videos that is related to a assignment or homework. If students are working in a group Edmodo is a good resource because peers can directly speak to one another, they can send each other what documents involving the assignment or anything related. This is also great for teachers because they can keep track of the group, how they are making progress and give them feedback if needed. Finally Edmodo makes a great e-portfolio because you can monitor students work, quizzes and assignments, so at the end of the schools year or by quarters you can see how they have developed and provide feedback and proof to show to other collogues and parents.

Week 3- Assignment 2

•   Which ideas from the video reflect what the ELA teachers you interviewed are currently doing to integrate technology with their literacy instruction? Based on the video the ELA teacher is using a productivity tool in her classroom. She is using the smart bored, ipad, and software apps, to engage her students. •   How can you help change their instructional practices to include the use of technology and the Internet in their literacy and content-area curriculum? I can help by introducing ICT tools ( components of new literacies) and having students use cognitive skills / tools in the classroom. •   What professional development and/or resources will they need in order to make these changes? Week 6 -2-1

After reading both articles, they both come to the same important point of technology in the classroom. One article focused on understanding of ICT’s by teachers and the other was social media in the classroom. In order for both to occur in the classroom we have to make the students feel comfortable when using technology so that way the transition is smooth and students can adapt to become familiar. In most cases if teachers are not familiar with technology they tend to shy away from it and teach using textbooks or lecture. In the country we live in this isn’t fair or possible anymore because we are in an advance world of technology.
