Week 7 Assignment 2







Second Life is a great game that kept me engaged for way too long, it can definitely be used in your classroom with the multimodality that can be applied.  It provided a lot of visual tools that can be described. If it were my ELA class I will have students create a story of at least two different islands. They have to create a detailed story, background information of the character and a story line to make the readers want more. Students can do so much with SL that it can be an continues assignment of different types of writings. Having teachers give these assignments can expand their creativity and writing skills.

Week 3- Assignment 2

•   Which ideas from the video reflect what the ELA teachers you interviewed are currently doing to integrate technology with their literacy instruction? Based on the video the ELA teacher is using a productivity tool in her classroom. She is using the smart bored, ipad, and software apps, to engage her students. •   How can you help change their instructional practices to include the use of technology and the Internet in their literacy and content-area curriculum? I can help by introducing ICT tools ( components of new literacies) and having students use cognitive skills / tools in the classroom. •   What professional development and/or resources will they need in order to make these changes? Week 6 -2-1

After reading both articles, they both come to the same important point of technology in the classroom. One article focused on understanding of ICT’s by teachers and the other was social media in the classroom. In order for both to occur in the classroom we have to make the students feel comfortable when using technology so that way the transition is smooth and students can adapt to become familiar. In most cases if teachers are not familiar with technology they tend to shy away from it and teach using textbooks or lecture. In the country we live in this isn’t fair or possible anymore because we are in an advance world of technology.
